120 minutes

The film follows the same core storyline as the 2016 animated hit: a young wayfinder from the island of Motunui answers the ocean's call to journey beyond her reef, track down the demigod Maui, and restore the heart of Te Fiti to save her people. Critics have noted the film is a very faithful, scene-for-scene translation, praised for its vibrant celebration of Polynesian culture and the chemistry between its leads, though some found it closely mimics the animated original.
